While crossing a field to visit her daughter, Mrs. Bahanar stepped on a landmine.

Mrs. Banahar is one of thousands of Afghan victims of landmines. There are over 8 million landmines in Afghanistan to which the United States has added thousands of unexploded cluster bombs. Still the U.S. refuses to sign the international ban on landmines.
