Year of the Child.  1979.  Hidalgo, Texas

...at lunch time, beside large trucks or old pickups or cars, they sit down to eat and look at the children again. They grab their child's hands between their own trying to rub the soreness out of the young fingers. On occasion, a blister breaks on someone too young to be out in the fields and the fathers walk away for a few seconds to be by themselves while women, watching the scene closely, move in to help the child with bleeding hands.
